A Saltee Guide: Beautiful Beach Staycations

  • 2 min read

As international travel may be tricky right now, Saltee is taking advantage of local destinations that’ll make you feel as though your further afield.

Our favourite suncare brand takes a look at some of the best beaches in England to help plan your summer getaway. Whether you're heading to Norfolk or Cornwall, here's their top picks of local, dreamy beach hot spots…

Norfolk

There are so many beaches to choose from ……. so let’s do this by requirements. If you’re looking for a beach with amenities, our family favourites would be Old HunstantonWells-next-the-SeaEast Runton and Sea Palling.

For that traditional seaside town vibe head to CromerSheringham and Mundesley. Off the beaten track, Saltee favourites are Brancaster and WaxhamHolkham beach is undoubtedly the tourist’s favourite due to its vast stretches of sand and enormous Norfolk skies. However Saltee tip – head to Burnham Overy Staithe and either jump on the North Norfolk Coastal path or squelch through the estuary to reach the secluded end of Holkham Beach.

Finally, watching the sunset over Happisburgh lighthouse is the most romantic way to end the day.

Devon

In North Devon’s surfer paradise, you’re spoilt for choice: the dune-backed beaches at Croyde (above), or Woolacombe or the gentler Saunton Sands– all large sandy beaches with good waves and rock pools. Off the beaten track, locals love Putsborough between Croyde and Woolacombe, and if you don’t mind a bit of walk and climb down the beach, the secluded Bucks Mill or Lee Bay.

Among South Devon’s 50 beaches, family-friendly faves include the golden sands of Bantham (good for surfers) which has all the facilities you need but big enough to spread a socially-distanced towel and you can take a SUP or surf lesson here too.

Beautiful Blackpool Sands has the added bonus of the fab Venus Café, and Muddy loves a swim (in a wetsuit of course) at gentle Hope Cove (above) – no steps to climb and three good eateries to warm up in afterwards.

Beer (the South Devon village not the bevy, above) on the Jurassic Coast could easily be in our Unmissables section, for its working fishing boats seen in many an insta-feed. Some good galleries too.

Cornwall

The very best beaches are the ones that you have to work a little to find, or at least walk to rather than drive up. Some of our favourites a little off the beaten track are Polly Joke and the wild flower meadows at West Pentire, Nanjizal near Land’s End, Gwenver near Sennen and Lantic Bay between Fowey and Polperro.

Other favourites include Gunwalloe, Coverack Harbour, Portheras Cove and Porthoustock on the Lizard and not just because Poldark swam at them, honest.

Wherever you’re headed this year, remember to take Saltee with you on your next adventure. With formulations suitable for the whole family, you can protect your skin with ultra-high UVA and UVA suncare for the face and body.

Saltee products are vegan friendly, cruelty free, paraben free, gluten free and oxybenzone free, making them safer for our oceans.  Each product has also been dermatologically tested, so it’s suitable for even the most sensitive skin and our packaging is made from responsibly sourced materials.
