We are proud to announce our support for The Eve Appeal and the Cosmetic Executive Women in their #GetLippy campaign for the whole month of May. The campaign aims to encourage women and men to speak up and speak out about gynaecological health, their cancers and to educate and spread awareness about associated signs and symptoms.
The Eve Appeal is the only UK national charity raising awareness and funding research in the five gynaecological cancers – ovarian, womb, cervical, vaginal and vulval. Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) is the leading organisation for women and men working in the beauty industry in the UK. They lead the conversation in beauty, addressing topics that are shaping the future of the industry.
The Eve Appeal CEO Athena Lamnisos explains what inspired the campaign:
“There are still far too many taboos around gynae health. Being embarrassed about discussing issues that might be signs and symptoms of one of the women-specific cancers is costing lives. At The Eve Appeal we hear all too often that the first time a woman has heard of one of the five gynae cancers is when she’s sitting in a consulting room receiving the news that she’s been diagnosed with one.
This culture of silence and lack of awareness is endangering women’s health and is particularly a barrier to early diagnosis. We’re failing the needs of women and girls. We need to break these taboos and arm women with the information they need to take charge of their own health.”
Throughout the month we will be donating 10% from every sale of No Excuses collection. Our donation will help to fund vital research into early detection, risk-prediction and prevention of women’s cancers, as well as spreading much-needed awareness.
