The Future of Travel: Wellness at Airports

The Future of Travel

Imagine a time when you actually look forwardto going to the airport. Where instead of arriving two hours before your flight, drinking copious amounts of coffee (or wine) and snacking on unhealthy treats, you fit in a quick workout, join a relaxing yoga class or have a refreshing swim.

Or when your flight gets delayed (again), instead of getting frustrated, you're glad to have the opportunity to take a Pilates class or head to the gym. Sounds too good to be true? In some airports with wellness facilities, this is already a reality. With your Sweat Bag or Wet Bag packed and ready, you can take full advantage of these wellness offerings and feel rejuvenated before even boarding your flight.

Fitness Facilities at Airports Around the World

Singapore Changi Airport and Jewel Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport is a wellness pioneer, offering a range of fitness options in its Terminals 1 and 3. You’ll find a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool in Terminal 1, perfect for a quick swim between flights. The pool is accompanied by a Jacuzzi, lounge chairs, and a pool bar where you can unwind. Access costs around SGD 17 (approximately £10) for a 30-minute session.

For yoga enthusiasts, Changi offers free access to its yoga studios located in Terminals 2 and 3. These spaces are equipped with mats and are open 24/7, making it easy to fit in a session before or after your flight.

Singapore’s Jewel Changi Airport offers a range of wellness experiences, including Pilates and yoga classes at Minmed Wellness Collective, held in Canopy Park amidst lush gardens. These classes are available from Wednesday to Sunday, 8 AM to 10 AM.

Also at Jewel, the Rain Vortex area features unique Reformer Pilates classes, available in three styles: Re:Form, Re:Fine, and Re:Glow. These classes cater to various fitness levels and goals, and participants can enjoy music through wireless headsets while they work out.

Wellness in Airline Lounges

Some airlines also offer wellness facilities within their lounges, transforming them for travellers looking to recharge before their flight.

These lounges offer everything from Peloton bikes and fitness rooms for a quick workout, to spa treatments and yoga areas for those in need of calm and rejuvenation. With a variety of wellness options available, these lounges are becoming essential destinations for resetting before you take-off. When it comes to airline loyalty, we're more likely to choose an airline and airport based on wellness offerings like these, rather than on airmiles (which, let’s face it, are often impossible to use!).

Why You Should Prioritise Wellness While Travelling

Whether you're heading to a business meeting, off on holiday, or just passing through, there’s no reason your wellness should take a back seat. A quick stretch, a swim, or just a few minutes to breathe can make a huge difference to how you feel. More airports are getting on board with this, so why not take advantage of it when you can?

Ready to Travel Well?

Airports are slowly but surely catching on, offering more spaces where you can stay active, relax and feel good before your flight. With the right gear, like the Sweat Bag and Wet Bag, you can easily make time for a quick workout or refresh while on the go. So, next time you’re travelling, take a moment for yourself, whether it's stretching, swimming, or just breathing. With a little bit of wellness, even the busiest travel days can feel a lot better. Let’s hope that more airports and airlines embrace this trend, who knows, you might even start looking forward to travelling and arrive a little earlier, just to enjoy everything on offer!
