Exciting News from La Pochette

Our Journey to Becoming a Certified B Corporation™

It Started With a Plastic Bag

Today marks an important milestone for La Pochette.
We're incredibly proud to share that we're now officially B Corp™ certified.

It's a significant moment for our business, but it also feels like the natural outcome of the choices we've made since the very beginning. When La Pochette was founded, we weren't trying to build a sustainable brand, we were trying to solve a problem.

We wanted to make it easier for people to carry their workout kit and swimwear without needing a separate gym bag. The lightbulb moment came in a changing room, where it became clear that most people didn't need to carry towels, toiletries or hairdryers because they were already provided. All they really needed was their own kit and a few personal essentials.

The problem came afterwards.
Once a workout or swim was over, the accepted solution was a flimsy plastic bag. Whether it came from a supermarket, was designed to go in the freezer drawer or was handed out in a changing room, it did a job, but it never felt like the right solution.

As we started developing our own fabrics, we realised good design and responsible design couldn't be separated. We were creating products people would use every day and the materials mattered just as much as the design. At the same time, we couldn't ignore the millions of single use plastic bags being handed out in changing rooms across the world.

We had a choice between creating another product using generic materials, or using the opportunity to do something better.

We chose to develop our fabric using recycled post-consumer waste.

It cost more but we believed it was the right decision. That decision shaped the company we've become. From that point on, sustainability wasn't a marketing message or a box to tick. It became part of how we designed products, chose materials and made decisions.

A few years ago, we began the journey towards becoming a Certified B Corporation. Not because we wanted a badge, but because we wanted an independent framework that held us accountable to the standards we'd already set ourselves.

Becoming a Certified B Corporation doesn't mean our work is finished. It means we're committed to continuing to improve.

We believe businesses can be a force for good. Through thoughtful design, responsible manufacturing and a commitment to making better choices, we hope to leave things better than we found them.

Thank you to everyone who has supported La Pochette. We're incredibly proud of this milestone, and it's only the beginning.
